Wallowa Lake Vacation

We had such a wonderful time at Wallowa Lake!  We saw all kinds of weather - lots of sun the first two days.  On the third day, the clouds started rolling in during the afternoon, and by the evening, there were thunderstorms.  The day we left it rained over an inch which kind of made it easier to go home, but not really.  We could live there.  The home we stayed in was beautiful - there were 4+ bedrooms, so we all got our own rooms.  I especially loved our room on the top floor with its own little balcony and window overlooking the lake.  There was a 3-story spiral staircase, and we, surprisingly, had no injuries on it - I kept imagining falling down it, though!  We are so grateful for money Mom and Dad gave us for Christmas, so we could take such a fun trip :).  We invited them over for some of our vacation since they were the ones who made our trip possible!  We did lots of fun things....rode a tram up to 8,500 feet up a mountain.  The view was spectacular, and I was so excited that I was able to do it (with a bit of help from some anxiety medicine and encouragement from Mom).  At the top of the mountain, we fed squirrels, and one jumped up on my leg which I wasn't too thrilled about!  We went canoeing, jumped in the freezing lake (the kids did, anyway), hiked in the Wallowas, did puzzles (which we never do at home), walked around the cute town of Joseph, played lots of cards, ate on the deck, read, relaxed, drank milkshakes, went on walks, etc.  We found an amazing chocolate and coffee shop that we visited several times.  The owners invited us behind the counter to watch how the chocolates were made!  The drive home was not much fun - it poured, and we had semis splashing our car.  The kids were about to lose their minds the last hour of the trip as we were stopped in rush hour traffic in Portland.  We made it home, though.  We are already thinking about going back next summer.
