For Conner's humanities project, he had to choose a topic related to our family's culture/history. He decided to study the Holocaust since his great great grandparents were killed in the concentration camps. He has been researching why the Nazis stole art work from the Jews and has researched some of the concentration camps. He has also spent time watching Omi's interview about her memories from this horrible time. Today we took a trip to the Oregon Holocaust Memorial. It is a wall with quotes and names of family members of people living in Oregon who were killed in the concentration camps. Along the path are objects that were found in the camps. It was quite a powerful experience. Kelsey asked a few questions and said that she felt sick afterwards because of what she read and couldn't understand why the Nazis killed so many people just because they were Jews.
