Homecoming 2013

It was an interesting homecoming evening for the kids...Kenz's date had mono, so he wasn't able to go. So McKenzie's "date" was her good friend, Tiffany, who was going to homecoming without a date.  The girls had lots of fun getting manicures and pedicures, doing their hair, and having Tiffany's mom do their makeup.  Conner, on the other hand, started getting ready (taking a shower, etc.) at 3:00 and was supposed to be in Lake Oswego for pictures by 4:00.  He had tried on his pants earlier in the week and said they fit fine - he showed them to me, and they looked fine.  When he was getting his pants on, the button was soooo tight that he could barely button them.  With a belt, though, you couldn't tell that they were too tight :).  When it was time to leave, he was looking for Peter's black shoes that he was planning on wearing.  We couldn't find them ANYWHERE!  So....we had to rush to buy shoes at 3:45.  I told him to let them know that he couldn't make it to pictures until 4:30.  While he finished getting ready, I went to Payless to buy shoes.  I told him not to rush (as in drive quickly) to meet me because I didn't want him to get in an accident.  Peter misunderstood what I had said, and he thought that I told Conner not to rush, implying that he thought I said I was coming back home with the shoes.  So I was waiting and waiting for Conner in the shoe store wondering where he was.  When I checked my phone, I saw that Peter had called me 8 times but I hadn't heard my phone.  Conner finally convinced Peter that he was supposed to meet me there so he came to meet me.  I had bought the shoes and was waiting for him in the car.  He drove up, I gave him the shoes, and they fit great.  He told me that they had changed the picture time to 4:30 anyway....good thing because it was 4:00!  When he stood up, I noticed that he didn't have the belt on which was hiding the button that was about to burst!  He had left the belt at home.....so he had to drive back home to get the belt!  He actually made it to his friend's house in Lake Oswego by 4:35!  I was sad, though, because I didn't make it over to their group for pictures, so I don't have a picture of him and Marisa together.  Last year I just took pictures of Conner and missed McKenzie's, so this year we traded :).  I love the picture that Conner and McKenzie took together and thought it was cute that they would want to do that.  Anyway, the homecoming dinners and event were fun, but afterwards they both said it wasn't as much fun.  Conner made it home by 12:04 (since curfew in Portland is 12:00).  It was the first time that he had the car and came home after we were in bed - what a weird feeling to have one of our kids out with the car at midnight!  Thank God Conner is responsible and trustworthy and a very good driver (as long as he remembers to turn on his headlights)!
